Emancipation of the young girls of the tribes GBAYA and DJEREM
In the past, we GBAYA girls from GAROUA-BOULAI were victims of an ancestral rough tradition. It is high time that we, young girls from GAROUA-BOULAI, affirm in this evolutionary century that tends to become a global village.

Description2:

Formerly, we GBAYA girls (GAROUA-BOULAI) were victims of ancestral very rough traditions.

That exposed us to practices like early forced marriage and no acces to education.

African women and specifically the Gbaya girls, were generally a source of the family wealth.
Our rights were violated in favor of the strict respect of the laws of tradition. This is how we do not have the right to speak and some dishes were forbidden, like the best meats.
Our daily activities were limited to work on the land, do the houshold, pottery baking and fetching water. Nowadays, several mechanisms of follow-up and accompaniment are put in place to eradicate this scourge which has long retarded our development.

The insistence of human rights on the protection of marginalized groups pushes the Cameroonian government to create schools with more women.
Also thanks to advances in education by giving attention to the ´gender aspect . Thanks to diversified communication techniques, such as radio, television, internet, women's magazines and sensitization sessions. Now women are integrating more into civil society.

It is high time that we, young girls of GAROUA-BOULAI, that we affirm in this evolutionary century that tends to become a global village.

Thank you on behalf of Henriette Sarbé Divine.  Educator at the agricultural school in Bertoua.
