My name is TATAH ABDUL-AHMED. I am a trainee in the ACOHOF Family Farm School+ of Bankim, in the Adamawa region of Cameroon. In our school, we are learning media literacy.

We do learn how to take pictures and send to the media and how to use computers, telephones, tablets and other ICT tools.

I am the president of our media literacy club. Our club has produced some digital stories that are now in the media. With the help of media literacy classes, I learnt to get information from the internet and learnt about climate change.I checked the weather forecast and I knew when rain will fall when the rains started this year.

I browsed through the internet to know about the time to plant. I learnt that it was not yet planting time and I had to argue with people.

They planted and now they regret. It´s only the beginning of the rainy season. The first rain did not last and we saw this in the weather forecast. My parents did not plant and they congratulated me for the knowledge brought through media literacy.

In our school we do practice the pedagogy of Alternation. We study in school and at home or with the professionals farmers in the farms. We do carry out study visits in crop farms, animal farms and fishing areas. We learn how to use local materials for production.

We also make benches from bamboos. At home my parents constructed a fish pond that I am managing when I go home for alternation. I will also accompany my mother to the farm during cropping season.

When I finish my activities, I will assist my father in his shop.
