Precoce pregnancy in the interior of Brazil.
My name is Alice. I work in family agriculture and live in an agrarian reform settlement situated in the rural area of the municipality of Alvorada do Gurgueia, in the State of Piaui.
In the settlement, which I helped to set up, we have approximately sixty families that work in family agriculture; each having twenty hectares of land. Faced with the difficulties we are experiencing on the land, I together with other families set up an Family Farm School, in the municipality of Cristino Castro.
The school attends to rural youth from eight municipalities. In it we work with the method of alternative pedagogy, which provides for the integration of families and communities. Being at the head of the FFS work brings one into contact with various family situations of necessity.
I noticed that many girls between the ages of thirteen and sixteen are prone to precocious pregnancies. I have sought to help in resolving this situation. I invited the healthcare team to give informative talks on the methods of birth control. I feel fulfilled in having contributed something to these adolescents.
Today, they are more aware of and prepared for the role of protagonism among rural youth. Combating prostitution should be the role of all of us.
