Description2:

As the growing number of children are losing their parents to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, devastating the social safety net of family. There are a lot of child headed households forcing young people to parent their siblings and young relatives. They sometimes do not have enough food to cater for all of them and as a result they turn to crime to feed themselves.

The initiative was developed to give guidance to young people to keep them out of the streets so as not to engage in wayward behaviours.

We believe in strengthening sustainable support systems by running a drop-in centre and sports facility centre to help curb issues that affect our communities.

The centre is geared towards changing and enriching the lives of young people using football and other avenues to influence positive youth development

In order to keep young people motivated, they are mobilized through development and after school programs such as:

•            Life skills
•            Kids Club,
•            Choirs
•            Cultural dancing
•            Psychosocial Support
•            Sports

Sports and recreation are used to sensitise young people on health and socio-economic issues around HIV and Aids, STIs, substance abuse, sanitary protection and raising awareness on child abuse and child protection.

The centre provides a nutritious meal per day and school uniform for over 200 beneficiaries between the ages of 1 and 18 years. We however do not have enough funding to provide two meals in the day.

Continuous care for orphans and vulnerable children should be in our hearts from the beginning to the very end.
