Description2:

In this month of March, as a coordinator of the I Muhari Village, I visited the field of Bucumi of the Teza Hill.

For years, they have been sowing degenerated potato seeds. This has resulted mediocre production. In regards to the problem of the quality of seeds, it can also be added that there has been a lack of production techniques and of conservation methods.

He imitated the use of genetically modified seeds but the situation got worse. He wallowed in the situation without hope to ever get out of it.

One day, he passed by a field which was in a good vegetative state. The farmer told him that it was a field where the seeds came from a seed center of the village of I Muhira.

From there, it was stocked with potatoes that where of a Ndinamagara variety. The recommended technique to cultivate is: Spacing of 40cm x 60cm, only one tuber in a hole with two fistfuls of compost.

There was an increase of yield and this permitted the creation of his own seed bank.

He rejoiced with this situation and proposed to other farmers to abandon those degenerated or genetically modified seeds: the opening of the door to autonomy in the farming profession.
